The online retailer Amazon.com (NASDAQ:AMZN) has announced that it has temporarily stopped the acceptance of application submissions in its German store, following legal proceedings from Apple on the use of “App Store”.Amazon.com (NASDAQ:AMZN) said in an e-mail, “We have been forced to impose this restriction due to a legal action filed by Apple in Germany seeking to prevent us from using the term “appstore.” We believe Apple’s claim is without merit and are actively contesting it. When you log into your Developer Portal account, you will notice that the options to add new apps have been removed. We hope to begin accepting new apps from German developers again soon and will notify you as soon as we are able to do so”.
Retail giant Amazon.com (NASDAQ:AMZN) announced that it has expanded its membership only fashion site MyHabit.com by adding a new home category for home accessories and décor.The new category covers all home accessories including bedding and bath, lighting, accent furniture and small appliances.
The site offers up to 60 percent off on the items with free shipping.
Maria Renz, MyHabit president at Amazon.com (NASDAQ:AMZN), said, “We hope Myhabit affords our members the creative freedom to be their own best decorator and create spaces they truly love”.

The global rollout of Amazon Virtual Private Cloud has been announced. Amazon.com (NASDAQ:AMZN) Web Services has announced the global rollout of Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (Amazon VPC).
Amazon.com (NASDAQ:AMZN) Web Services has extended Amazon.com (NASDAQ:AMZN) Virtual Private Cloud (Amazon VPC) to all Web Services Regions, allowing enterprises to launch their Amazon.com VPC environments in the US East and West Coasts, Europe, Singapore, and Tokyo, and in multiple Amazon.com (NASDAQ:AMZN) Web Services availability zones within each region.
The company also launched Amazon.com (NASDAQ:AMZN) Web Services Direct Connect, a new service which enables new enterprise capabilities for dedicated networking and identity management.
Adam Selipsky, Vice President, Amazon.com (NASDAQ:AMZN) Web Services, said that, “As enterprises make the move to the cloud; many have leveraged Amazon.com (NASDAQ:AMZN) VPC for workloads that they’ve wanted to manage using their existing management and security policies. With today’s launch of Amazon.com (NASDAQ:AMZN) VPC worldwide, Amazon.com (NASDAQ:AMZN) Web Services Direct Connect and the new IAM federated identity capabilities, enterprises have even more flexibility and control over deploying their workloads to the cloud. These capabilities provide even more privacy, and along with Amazon.com (NASDAQ:AMZN) Web Services’s existing cloud services allow enterprises to choose the environment that is best suited to each of their workloads.
